Scrumptious samplings from Shearwater

Feeling the chill on these cooler winter mornings? Why not start your day with a tasty brekky from the great new menu at Shearwater Restaurant.

$12 breakfasts are served every day from 8am so you can enjoy yummy ricotta hot cakes or the delicious corn fritters with the gorgeous creek setting as your morning backdrop. Some of the breakfast dishes are so popular that they’re also made available on the lunch menu (such as the Corn Fritters and Croque Madame).

Chef Luke Guy is relatively new to Shearwater and is delighted to have introduced Korean Fried Chicken Sliders. The buns for this dish are sourced from K’Pane Artisan Bakery in Coffs who are renowned for their organic, fermented bread.  Throughout the year, Shearwater also has beautiful fresh fish, all locally caught, available for lunch and dinner.

The menus at Shearwater are designed to reflect the seasons and the restaurant has some enticing comfort food available to warm us up with delicious dishes such as the Beef Bourguigon and Lamb Shanks available for dinner. The Pan Roasted Duck Breast with sticky pork belly and an Asian baby herb salad also goes down like a treat with diners.

And let’s not forget those with a sweet tooth who keenly eye off the dessert specials even before taking a seat. All daily desserts blackboard specials are a set price of $11.90 and with offerings such as crème brulee, bake ricotta and strawberry cheesecake and Sticky Date Pudding with warm butterscotch sauce available, dessert will surely hit the spot. Desserts are available with all three meals of the day.

And how many delicious restaurants provide their patrons the opportunity for fish feeding? One thing you may not know is that The Promenade site has been developed where the Coffs Butter Factory once stood.  The theory is that the factory used to release the buttermilk into the creek every day and attract schools of fish. Today, plenty of fish can still be spotted below the front deck and staff are happy to provide bread to customers for the fish. It’s just one of the many appealing elements of enjoying a relaxing, waterfront dining experience.

The bar at Shearwater is stocked with a wonderful variety of wines and the venue is also available for weddings, parties and corporate functions. Shearwater Restaurant is open for breakfast lunch and dinner daily.
