Taking five at The Promenade with… Michelle from Hair at the Promenade

Michelle, tell me about you and your business. Hair at the Promenade has been here for 16 years now but I’d rather not say how long I’ve been a hairdresser! I’m here Monday to Friday and employ another hairdresser, Jodie. I’m really proud that 90% of our business comes from repeat clientele.

What do you enjoy about your work? It’s ever changing. The trends, new products, styles – it’s a fun and creative industry.

What trends are hot in hair right now? Splashes of colour, whether its colour washes or bold colour choices, that seems to be on trend, especially with the younger clientele. For the more mature ladies, we are seeing lots of lovely golden and rich brown colours, with short bobs, flowing long locks and body.

What do you like about being based here? I love all the natural light here and how open plan it is. It’s great to be able to look at the creek through the working day. All the businesses here make it feel like a little community too.

What do you like to do on the weekends? I like to keep fit and am part of the Coffs tri club and regularly participate in Iron Man competitions around Australia. I also like to walk my dog – Lily. She’s a Groodle (Golden Retriever / Poodle) and is quite often seen in salon from time to time.
